Sleep is often overlooked when you’re not getting enough of it. Whether you’re a new parent or a college student in the middle of finals week, you’re probably not sleeping as much or as well as you should be to function properly and comfortably. According to the National Sleep Foundation, adults should be getting anywhere from seven to nine hours of undisturbed sleep every night. While individual circumstances and needs may vary, the fact remains that without a good night’s sleep, you won’t be functioning as well as you should be.
If you’re having trouble sleeping, the good news is that it may be your mattress! Whether your mattress is getting too old or it’s just not the right one for you, there are different styles of adjustable beds that could prove to be a solution to your problem. The average person spends approximately 3,000 hours every year just lying on their mattress. Now, with people spending that much time on their bed, it makes sense that a mattress will need to be replaced every few years or so. A quality mattress should last you up to 10 years. However, wear and tear aren’t the only reasons people aren’t getting a good night’s sleep.
In a recent survey, nearly 86% of people reported waking up in the middle of the night because of a temperature related issue. With a standard mattress, this can be an issue, but certain styles of adjustable beds may allow you to adjust the temperature as well as the firmness of your mattress.
Comfort while sleeping is one of the most important factors in feeling well rested. If your bed is uncomfortable, or the temperature keeps waking you up, something needs to be done to address the issue. Your rest is important not only because you need it to survive, but because you’ll see a noticeable difference when you aren’t well rested. Letting sleep fall to the wayside isn’t going to help you get work done or look strong, it’s going to hurt your body. Don’t let your health suffer because you aren’t sleeping on the right mattress for you.
