If you’re looking to sell your house using top realtors, or if you just want your little slice of real estate to look great for the warmer weather, it’s time to start spring cleaning. If this is your very first house, you may not know where to start. Don’t worry, here is a basic guide for all your spring cleaning needs.
Kitchen
In every room of the house, not just the kitchen, you’re going to want to start with the windows. Open them up and clean them from top to bottom. Don’t forget about the screens and the frames. Next, you want to wipe down and clean the grease off of all your small appliances, like the microwave and the coffee maker. Then, move onto your bigger appliances, like your oven, refrigerator, and dishwasher. Finally, you’ll want to wipe down all your cabinets and countertops. It doesn’t hurt to give the floor a good mopping, either.
Bedrooms
Again, start with the windows in all the bedrooms. Then, you should dust all of the furniture and ceiling fans. Next, make sure you wash all the bedding and sheets. Here comes the fun part. This is the perfect time to go through the drawers and closets and get rid of all the clothes you don’t wear. Finally, you’ll want to vacuum and steam the floors, whether they are carpet or hardwoods.
Bathrooms
The bathrooms are probably going to involve the most scrubbing. All the tiles, sinks, toilets, showers, mirrors, and even the walls can use a thorough scrubbing with disinfectant. Don’t forget about your shower curtain and floor mats. Then, you’re going to want to get rid of all the toiletries not being used. Finally, sweep and mop the floor. This is also a good time to reseal any tile or plumbing fixture that may be leaking water.
Family Rooms
These rooms include all living rooms, dining rooms, and playrooms. Start with the windows again. Then, dust all the furniture and ceiling fans. Don’t ignore your electronics and light fixtures while you’re dusting. You’ll want to remove all couch cushions and vacuum underneath them and give your dining room chairs a good scrub. Finally, vacuum and steam all the floors.
Outdoors
A lot of people forget about the exterior of their real estate property when they’re cleaning, but it’s just as important as the inside. You can start by sweeping the driveway and all other walkways. Then, you should wash all exterior doors and thresholds. This would also be the time to clean out your garage and mulch your gardens if you have them.
