These include homeopathic medicine, acupuncture, sound therapy, Gua Sha therapy (an ancient Chinese practice of releasing toxins by increasing blood cir-culation), biofeedback (a technique utilizing a computer to relay signals to alleviate a range of behaviors and disorders) and much more. To evaluate the health of my complexion, Julia photographed my face with a state-of-the-art camera. With specialized computer software, she then analyzed my photograph to assess any age spots, uneven skin, pore size and wrinkles. She also used UV photography to detect bacteria levels and sun-damaged areas on my face. She compared my results to those of a pool of women my age and suggested a combination facial. Julia used organic products at my request.

Julia gave me the best facial I've ever had! The fragrance of oranges and roses wafted over me as I melted into her attentive and nurturing hands. She applied an anti-aging copper mask and then an emerald sweet red rose organic cleanser followed by a light spray of spring water to reduce any skin inflammation. Next she applied a rejuvenating herbal and fruit-based mask and ended the facial with a long, soothing face, neck and hand massage. As a bonus Julia placed warming slippers on my feet.

With a radiant face and cozy toes, I drifted over to the pedicure chair which, to my great pleasure, was also a massage chair. As I continued to enjoy the aromas of the organic products, technician JoAnn Meckes removed the dead skin from my feet with a delicious-smelling mandarin orange sugar exfoliating scrub. As she polished my toenails with formaldehyde-free nail color, she helpfully suggested ways to soften my calluses at home.
